Johnson Motorsports Announces Upcoming Schedule

Johnson Motorsports, professional competitive rock crawling team located in Las Vegas, Nevada, is pleased to announce its upcoming 2008 event schedule.  With the acquisition of the Campbell Enterprises Pro Modified rock buggy last October, the team is preparing eagerly for what will be its first full event series since the formation of Johnson Motorsports in 2006.  Nicole Johnson, driver and wife of former Red Bull Rockcrawling Team spotter Frank Johnson, will be officially competing as a rookie in the World Extreme Rockcrawling Championship Series (W.E. Rock) western division this year.

Upcoming events and appearances include the following:

March 7-8           Offroad Impact Show, Anaheim, CA
March 16-22       Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Moab, UT
April 11-13          W.E. Rock West Series Event #1, Perris, CA
May 16-18          W.E. Rock West Series Event #2, Cedar City, UT
June 20-22         W.E. Rock West Series Event #3, Ellensburg, WA
July 18-20           W.E. Rock West Series Event #4, Donner, CA
September 5-7   W.E. Rock Grand National Championships, Location TBA
October 3-5       Offroad Expo Show, Pomona, CA
November 4-7    SEMA Show, Las Vegas, NV
November 8-9    Pro Rock Women’s National Championships, Lucerne Valley, CA

While preparing for the new season and gaining valuable seat-time in the new vehicle, Nicole and Frank have competed in three events since the 2007 SEMA Show, where the vehicle made its Johnson Motorsports debut.  “We are very pleased with the performance of this buggy in technical terrain,” says Nicole of the teams second-place finish at the Pro Rock Women’s National Championships.

At the 7th Annual W.E. Rock “Put Up or Shut Up” in January, the team finished very well and has continued to get to know the new car.  Though the event is unique in its format of not having any vehicle class distinctions, Johnson Motorsports placed second among fellow Pro Modified competitors and 8th overall, a noticeable improvement over the team’s performance in its former crawler.

Johnson Motorsports has also benefited from more than just seat-time in recent weeks.  The team pushed its technical-built crawler to the relatively fast speed of 67 miles per hour at the media-packed King of the Hammers race in February.  The invitation-only event was a mix of roughly 30 miles of desert racing and 20 miles of hard-core rock trails in the famed Johnson Valley OHV area aptly named “The Hammers”.  While 44 top teams from around the country were selected to race, only 26 finished the grueling first-of-its-kind event.  The team proudly finished 15th with Nicole Johnson as driver and Frank Johnson as co-driver.  Commented Nicole after the race, “What an amazing feeling crossing the finish line!  We never lost one tire or had any mechanical failures thanks to our amazing sponsors!”

Continued sponsors from last year include ProComp Tire & Wheel, Fi Car Audio and Bluetorch Fabworks.  New sponsors and partnerships have recently been formed with Truck-Bedz, Turnkey Engine Supply, Viking Offroad, and Premier Racing Products.  The team has also added Mike Julian of Las Vegas to its pit crew.  Johnson Motorsports prides itself on being a family-oriented, professional team and strives to always represent its sponsors with integrity.
