JOHNSON MOTORSPORTS EXCEEDS GOALS IN 2008

Having just completed its first full season of competition, Johnson Motorsports is pleased to have exceeded its goals in 2008.  The Las Vegas based team opened its year with clearly defined goals that have continued to soar upward as expectations for rookie driver Nicole Johnson and her seasoned veteran spotter and husband Frank Johnson have done the same.

Qualifying for the World Extreme Rockcrawling (W.E. ROCK) Grand National Championships was among the top goals for this year.  In one final battle on the rocks in Hannibal, Missouri, the top nine Pro Modified and Unlimited teams from each series will come together in September as the “East Meets West” to crown a National Champion.

“As the year began,” tells Nicole, “we hoped to hold our own against the best in this sport by taking a top-nine series finish. But we were quickly encouraged by top teams to aim higher.”  At the Donner, California Western Series finals held earlier this month, Johnson Motorsports pulled off a notable fifth place in the series and exceeded its initial goals.  With continued optimism, Nicole recalls a saying she’s heard before:  “Shoot for the stars.  You might just land on the moon!”

Tantamount to performance goals, the Johnsons’ marketing goals for this year have included making a name for themselves amongst competitors and fans throughout the country.  Showcasing her potential in rock sports, Nicole Johnson was recently featured on a July episode of Spike TV’s Xtreme 4x4. “The show was very complimentary and has really helped to get our name out there.  We’ve received many positive comments on the coverage,” states Nicole.

The team will also be shown on the August 25th airing of Modern Marvels on the History Channel, featured in an upcoming article in the September issue of DirtSports Magazine, and included in the 2009 Pirate4x4.com inaugural calendar to be released later this year.  Heading into Grand Nationals, the team will continue to fulfill its marketing goals at the highly-publicized championship event by maintaining professionalism in sport and appearance.

With combined success in both the team’s marketing and performance goals, Nicole Johnson was recently selected to compete in the 2009 King of the Hammers “Ultimate Desert Race” to be held next February.  The highly anticipated race involves a selective application process and features top racers from various international rock sports.  As the first woman to cross the finish line in the inaugural KOH race held earlier this year, Nicole hopes to gain valuable pre-running and practice time in the coming months.

And though the 2008 season may be winding down, Johnson Motorsports is moving full speed ahead.  By continuing to set new goals and marking their progress along the paths, Nicole and Frank Johnson are optimistic about the team’s future on the rocks.
