One of the only professional female drivers in rockcrawling competition, Nicole Johnson brings a unique flair to the team and to the sport.
Always a crowd favorite, Nicole can often be seen interacting with spectators at events. "When we're at an event, folks are always coming up and encouraging me. I love the interaction with the crowd, especially the kids. It's great to see their enthusiasm and appreciation for a girl driver. It really keeps me going when the courses get tough! I hope to inspire kids and adults of all ages to get out there and try something new!"
Frank Johnson got his start in competitive rockcrawling back in 2001 spotting for Dustin and Becca Webster of the RedBull Rockcrawling team. After gaining five years of valuable experience on the course and in competition, Frank started Johnson Motorsports with wife Nicole in 2006.
Frank enjoys the competition and, believe it or not, the maintenance on the crawler. A general contractor and owner of Koplin Construction in Las Vegas, Frank has always enjoyed building and working with his hands.
His easy-going personality has shaped the team's down-to-earth perspective on the sport.
Nicole's dad Tom Jardin is the best addition to our team we could have ever hoped for. Tom has over 40 years of experience as a heavy equipment and diesel mechanic, and later a service manager. In the 1970's while working for Caterpillar, Tom invented a fuel injector adapter that was patented and later sold to CAT. (Nicole is rather impressed by this!)
Tom absolutely loves turbos... which is a really good thing, since Nicole has a nice little Turbo Ecotec 2.2 for him to tinker with. He's been such a huge help in maintaining our engine performance, and finding new ways to increase power. By the way, Tom can fix "any, any, anything!"
